ITES and Common Core Reading Standards

In looking for connections and commonalites between ITES and Common Core:
Reading Standard for grades K-5, I find that the Essential Standard: Technology
as a tool can connect at all grade level in almost every strand of Literature,
Informational Text and Foundational Skills.

The Essential Standard: Informational Text has connections and commonalites in
Literature for grades 3,4 and 5 in key ideas and detail, craft and structure,
integration of knowledge and ideas and range of reading and level of text
complexity.  There are also connections and commonalites in Informational Text
for grades K-5 in key ideas and detail and grades 1-5 in craft and structure.

The Essential Standard: Sources of Information has connections and commonalites
in Literature for grade 5 in integration of knowledge and ideas and in Informational
Text for grade K-5 in integration of knowledge and ideas.

The Essential Standard: Research Process and The Essential Standard: Safety
and Ethical Issues have connections and commonalites in Information Text for
grades 3-5 in craft and structure and for grade 5 in integration of knowledge and
ideas.

How do they compare?  Common Core is what is to be learned across the
curriculum.  ITES is the technology that needs to be learned but it also can facilitate
learning in other curriculum areas.

  1. Hi there MaryMedia! I agree that the ITES can facilitate learning in other curriculum areas. With so much to teach, it's almost essential that teachers integrate the them. I think by integrating technology, it will enhance the learning experience and help keep students engaged. What are some ways you integrate technology into your classroom?
